More and more universities are recruiting foreign golfers every year, due to the highly competitive nature of collegiate athletics. Despite this growing trend securing a golf scholarship in the United States it is still an extremely daunting and complicated process. With over 4000 universities and colleges it can be a very difficult process, especially if you don’t have the knowledge to pick a college that will fit both your academic and golfing needs. GolfScholarshipUSA staff have experience of playing or coaching in all three of the different college golf leagues: NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA. GolfScholarshipUSA can secure you the right scholarship and offer you a stress free journey through this whole process.
You will be recruited by a coach, who if interested will offer you an athletic scholarship. These can vary from a few thousand to a full scholarship covering all your expenses for the year. These scholarships are generally for your whole undergraduate degree with a chance for an increase if you perform well in and out of the classroom.
At GolfScholarshipUSA we will implement a plan that will guarantee you a scholarship offer. Not only this, but we help guide you every step along the way until the moment you arrive at college, and even after. At GolfScholarshipUSA unlike other many other agencies, we don’t stop after you get to the United States, we will stay in touch up to the time you graduate. This is your future, so at GolfScholarshipUSA we make sure we get it perfect.
Step 1: ASSESMENT:
During this step we will assess the level of both your academics and golf, as well as get to know you a lot better as a person. We will make sure to watch you compete in at least one tournament so we can really get a feel for your game on a deep level. Alongside this we will also look through all your current achieved grades. We will go through the clearing houses of different associations to determine your eligibility. We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to find you the right university.
Step 2: CREATING YOUR PROFILE, FILMING & TESTING:
During this step we will create your profile, which will be seen by coaches across the United States. (Click here to see an example).
We will also create your video which will be shown on your profile also. This will be conducted by all three members of GolfScholarshipUSA including our PGA professional with over 18 years’ experience who will give feedback to both you and your profile. This video will be edited by GolfScholarshipUSA staff to make sure it showcases your talents in the best way possible to interested coaches.
Last, is testing, at this stage we will need you to conduct an SAT exam. The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. We will guide you through this test and advice you on how to study and what to study for this exam.
Step 3: PROMOTION:
With our expert knowledge of golf programmes and universities in the United States, we will develop a short list of Universities which we will believe you will best be suited and are genuine scholarship opportunities. We will factor in scoring, finances, location, available courses, and coaching staff. We will contact these coaches both by email, and telephone sending them your video and profile. During this time you may also get contacted by other coaches who have come across you in our coach’s corner. We will also assist your communication with coaches informing you of the correct etiquette, and proof reading any emails during the communication if you so wish. We individualize this process for every player because we know how different every players needs are.
Step 4: HELP YOU MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION:
By this time you have received offers from various coaches and it’s time to choose which one to commit to. This is a massive decision as this is your future for the next 4 years. That’s why we at GolfScholarshipUSA will provide you with all the information about each of the prospective universities, and are always on hand to give our expert advice and answer ANY question you may have about the universities. With experience of being recruited by many colleges ourselves and having to make this decision, as well as recruiting players as a Coach our advice will be invaluable for you making the right decision for you.
Step 5: PAPERWORK:
This is the least exciting step of the process, but these documents are where our guidance and experience will also be crucial. To study in the United States there are lots of documents that will need to be taken care of. Generally the paperwork will consist of the following: Letter of Intent, Medical Forms, Grade Conversion, Financial Documentation, Submission of academic documents and a Student-Visa Application. Much of this paper work is very complicated, especially the grade conversion and the Student Visa Application. Fortunately for you we will guide you in exactly how to go through this process and have lists of all the supporting documents you will need for any of this paperwork.
